Macau - Mini Europe in Asia
My first time in Macau and they said one day will be enough for sight seeing so we tried it. From Hong Kong, we took the ferry to Macau. The ferry is pretty shaky so better take your anti-dizzy medicine before taking off.
Upon arrival in Macau, we only have our map to guide us on our way. We took the free hotel shuttles outside the ferry port and walked from there. It's way to hot in Macau that we have to rest a lot because of the heat.
When we talk about Macau, casinos come to mind. So we went to visit the strips of casinos first. The structures of the casino hotels around are amazing! It's like a tourist spot by themselves.
Next are the churches. As we walk along, we passed by a number of churches. We went in each one that's open. Taking pictures are allowed since most people who go there are tourists.
And as we walk, we finally get to Senado Square. This is where everybody is I think. Shopping, food, everything you need is there. As we walk along, we found lots of people carrying the same shopping bag, Pastelaria Koi Kei. So we have to find that shop and buy some goodies to take home. It took us hours to look for the shop because of the busy streets but we finally made it. There you get to taste everything they're selling before you decide to buy. I got myself two big shopping bags full of jerkey, candies and cookies. ^_^
Then we walk along to the Ruins of St. Paul. It's a really nice sight. And the atmosphere is somewhat like that of Venice. But you get to feel Venice more in The Venetian. They replicated Venice very well and the hotel itself is amazing! Truly a luxury to stay there with all the great artwork in the ceiling and the architecture that is a work of art by itself. It was night time when we reached The Venetian so we didn't get a chance to explore more. We have a ferry to catch and it's a long way back to the ferry port. It's best to explore Macau when you have a hotel booked there so that there will be no time pressure.
Maybe next time I visit Macau, I'll convince my friends for us to book a room in The Venetian and experience a rich man's life, even for one night. =D
